What does this barcode do?

QR codes are 2D matrix barcodes that can store far more data than 1D codes in a compact space. They encode URLs, plain text, JSON, or binary. Smartphones can scan them without dedicated hardware, which makes them useful for marketing, tickets, packaging, and internal workflows.

The denser the data, the larger the QR code must be printed for reliable scanning. Short URLs or simple text can work at 20×20 mm; complex or long content may need 30–40 mm or more.

Safe print sizes

  • Basic QR (short data / URL): 20 × 20 mm
  • Reliable for most use: 25 × 25 mm
  • High reliability / longer data: 30–40 mm square

Quiet zone (blank margin)

Leave at least 2 mm all around (more is better).

Tip

QR codes fail when they're too dense. If you put lots of text in, you must print bigger.
